Yes, I find scenes like this one sad as the once valued lookout site has been reduced to an eyesore such as this. The lookout was placed in 1929 and was an amazing 80 foot high tower, supported by these concrete structures. As far as I can tell, it was dismantled in 1961. However, the views are still special and if you look just to the right of the tree in this picture, you will see Mt. McLoughlin through the haze.
