Coalpit Gulch - North Thunder Mountain [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Coalpit Gulch - North Thunder Mountain
There are three main waterfalls to bypass in the lower section of Coalpit Gulch. There are Class 3 & 4 routes to bypass each waterfall. This is the second waterfall. Bypassing this waterfall to the left (not in view) is the easier way. But taking this route to the right is much more fun. As noted by the color of the rock, this route is wet and dangerous earlier in the year. But by late season the rock is dry and fun to climb. There is a rope at the last ten feet but don't touch it. The core is exposed and damaged up higher. I doubt it would hold much weight. 9/9/06.
