Classic Colorado: ice climbing in 75-degree August heat. This is as far as we went that day. You know it's time to turn around when it's 1 PM and rocks are making a "quick exit" down the center of the gully. At the mouth of McHenry's Notch Couloir, Rocky Mountain National Park, August 31, 2006.

Voted 1/10 | The climber looks to be merely average strength to me.
Also, what the heck is he doing with the piolet? It looks like he has no idea how to use it.
Lastly, he's climbing a couloir "sans" helmet. No wonder he had to turn back -- lucky he wasn't turned back by a rock hitting him on the head! | | Posted May 22, 2009 9:48 am |

Hasn't voted | What's with no shirt? Getting a much needed tan? Why bother wearing pants if you're going to leave off the helmet and shirt AND eyewear....especially according to the statement under photo. Thumbs down for this one! | | Posted May 22, 2009 10:22 am |
