Head of the Adver Valley above Shimshal [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Head of the Adver Valley above Shimshal
Shimshal Whitehorn is on the right as viewed from a meadow on route to base camp. The peak in the centre is Chu Kerti Dast West (5700m), climbed in 2006 by the Robls from the east (not pictured). The route to base camp avoids the icefall in the foreground by climbing the scree to the right. The base camp we is a short distance above the icefall on the glacier towards the right hand side (true left side of the glacier). Falling rocks from the hillside make the glacier the safe place to camp.
