ChewbaccaRoad?

According to this map there is a road between Tunuyan and Rio Yeso in Chile. This can't be correct? How far does the road actually go on the Argentinian side?

There's a "real", but rough road to Portozuelo Argentino. On the pass, lots of rocks has made a car journey impossible and on the west side the gravel switchbacks are destroyed by landslides. After that, I'm not sure how good the road is as the whole are was covered with penitentes. Further down the valley where not covered, it was more like a good and wide walking path.
I think there has been a road all the way, but it's now in bad disrepair.
Jaguar, the guy in El Manzano said something about destroyed roads, so that's another indicator there has been one.

According to DIFROL Paso Piuquenes even has/used to have a border control and aduana.
see also http://www.difrol.cl/html/104a.htm.
the pass is easily accessible from Chile, I have no idea about the Argentina side though. I doubt it goes much further. Coming from Argentina, it is according to my info not driveable beyond beneath Paso Argentino.

I agree it's not drivable beyond Paso/Portozuelo Argentino anymore, but I'm sure it has been. You can tell there have been some serious efforts to widen the path and stabilize it on the sides with big boulders.
On This photo you can see someone has hacked away huge parts of solid (whatever that menas in this case) rock and a "road" heading right down from the pass.
On this photo you can see the size of the road further down the valley.
I find it interesting with all these old roads crossing Los Andes.

On the site you recommended, excellent one by the way, the person writes: The identification is doubtful. Co. PirĂ¡mide is 5520m. What do you think? You said the peak on this photo is PirĂ¡mide.
I tend to agree with you, but then; which peak is the one on the photo?

This is definetely not Cerro Pyramide.
It must be Marmolejo. Marmolejo is steep on the Argentine side. The only other possibility - Cerro Hoff/Bello - is out of question.
