| Barred Owl | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
I happened upon this Barred Owl while hiking Wolf Rock Nature Preserve. It flew up from ground level after having an altercation with a Peregrine Falcon over killed prey. The Peregrine harassed me for at least five minutes before I was able to get a shot of the owl!

Hasn't voted | Actually saw her in the woods of Columbia(I think that's the town-?), CT, near Storrs and UCONN. There's a small novice rock climbing area there named Wolf Rock that I will submit soon. | | Posted Oct 9, 2006 12:36 pm |

Voted 10/10 | There was a Peregrene Falcon there too???? that must have been awesome! I saw these birds fly, when we were in Yosemite and just thier cruising speed was ridiculous! I read up on them and found out that during a dive, they actually reach speeds ov OVER 200 mph!!! I found this to be astonishing, these sons a bitches are the fastest things on the planet! | | Posted Nov 29, 2006 1:19 am |

Hasn't voted | This was shot with a 200mm zoom almost straight up into the pine tree above me. I was surprised she stuck around too. After posing for about 30 seconds more she took flight - I tried to persue for a better shot, but the brush was too thick.
