Kings Canyon Horseshoe Bend [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
Kings Canyon Horseshoe Bend
Can you see how Hwy 180 is carved right into the rock wall high above the river? Also note the huge gray escarpment of marble. This is the most spectacular part of Kings Canyon, IMHO, and a geology lovers dream! Horseshoe Bend, Sequoia National Forest, CA. October 8, 2006

I've never seen any on this stretch of road - probably because there are lots of blind curves and not much of a shoulder for cars to pass.

"I am in love with this world. I have nestled lovingly in it. I have climbed its mountains, roamed its forests, sailed its waters, crossed its deserts, felt the sting of its frosts, the oppression of its heats, the drench of its rains, the fury of its winds, and always have beauty and joy waited upon my goings and comings."   --John Burroughs
