| The Loft Route, on the... | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The Loft Route, on the southwest face of Longs Peak, is illustrated here, albiet approximately. Your route choices may vary. This route is sustained Class 3 climbing with varying degrees of exposure. Round trip via the Keyhole (standard) route is 14 miles. Be prepared for a long day and lots of climbing. The stretch known as The Narrows on the Keyhole route can be seen just blow and left of the Homestretch, where both routes meet just below the summit.
Special thanks to Kane for the use of this photo which was taken during his recent ascent of Pagoda Mountain.

Voted 10/10 | Did you ever climb up to the top of the "beaver"[14,000 promontory on the lower side of notch], rappel into the notch and then finish Longs? | | Posted Jul 30, 2003 7:29 am |

Hasn't voted | No-I've done some rope climbing, but that was 12 years ago. I have not done any rope work on Longs. | | Posted Jul 30, 2003 5:19 pm |

Hasn't voted | FYI ... On July 6,1990 we did a Skyline Traverse starting at the Sandbeach Lake Trailhead and climbing Lookout Mountain, Mount Meeker, Longs Peak (across The Notch), Storm Peak, and Half Mountain, finishing at the Glacier Gorge Parking lot.
The rappel into The Notch is a full 150 feet down a slightly overhanging face. | | Posted Aug 28, 2006 5:22 pm |
