Very - about 3 feet.

It was a cloudy cool day when I spied the snake during a hike at Yellowwood State Park in southern Indiana (just west of Bloomington).

I wanted to pick it up, but Linda (my wife) had a fit. The snake was so cold, it didn't move while I set up my tripod and took several pictures.

Probably a good call, Mike. If it had bitten you, you almost certainly would have made it to a hospital in time and been just fine, but you'd never hear the end of it!
