Old Miners Cabin [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Old Miners Cabin
This is an old miners/tourist cabin on Horseshoe Mesa and on the Grandview Trail. Copper mines operated from 1887-1910 and after that tourism took over. The tourism on the Grandview Trail dropped to almost nothing after the 1920's because the railroad reached the South Rim at Grand Canyon Village to the east. All tourism activity shifted over to there and the Grandview Trail was abandoned.

"In fact, I think you should add your body fat to the rating of the climb, to get a true measure of your inner climber. So climbing a 5.7 with 22% body fat is way harder than climbing a 5.14 with 3% body fat."   --Mike Yukish
