Cusick's Monkey-flower (Mimulus cusickii)
Cusick's monkeyflower grows in sandy soils in deserts and other arid habitats from Washington to California and east to Nevada and Idaho. It is uncommon in the arid canyons of western Idaho and formally designated as a rare species in Washington and California. It is unusual in that is generally blooms in very late summer of fall. This photo is from the Salmon River north of Riggins, Idaho. September 2004
