Hasn't voted | This entire group is a great and highly capable bunch with lots of experience. On this trip, we had three beginners climbing their first 14er. My daughter Shanna (lower left corner), Attila Dobai (hiker who's progress is being observed) and Barbara Bailey (above him behind a rock) climbed Mount Harvard, Colorado's third highest mountain, and a very long and serious undertaking for them all.
My climbing partner for 15 years watches from above. His name is Jim Lierman and he leads the IU Trekkers hikes during climbing season. Ellen Ritt (mtnhiker13) also looks on (my sweetheart). Me and Randy & Sharon Breunlin are looking on from below. Collectvely, we've got over 100 years of experience climbing in Colorado. New hikers are watched over closely and our success rate is pretty good.
BTW-our three new hikers seen here all suffered miserably on their way down-a typical price for a first 14er: dehydration, headaches, exhaustion, cramps, nausea, sore feet. All of these symptoms were dealt with accordingly. They had sworn off climbing by the end of the day. The next day, they were fired up and ready for the next one! Go figure. | | Posted Aug 12, 2003 11:55 pm |

Voted 10/10 | I noted the 5100' gain on your route map. Pretty good exercise. Looks as if one could approach from Pine Brook too-probably more than 4000 feet in elevatation gain. | | Posted Aug 13, 2003 12:10 am |

Hasn't voted | Just about any direction, including Horn Fork basin, is a lot of work for this mountain. French Creek is the shortest and smartest way, if you have 4WD. | | Posted Aug 13, 2003 7:19 am |
