Voted 10/10 | What elevation is this shot taken? Is this up the mountain at all, or from the absolute bottom? Elevation??? | | Posted Dec 24, 2006 1:49 pm |

Hasn't voted | hgrapid, the elevation here in this photo is about 5300', and the summit is just shy of 13,000', so you are looking at about 7600' of vertical. The wide angle camera lens compresses the scene quite a bit so the immense sense of vertical is almost entirely lost. In the photo one looks over at the mountain; however in real life one gazes UP at the summit. It is about a 14 mile hike out from here to the parking lot. One drops another 2300' to road level where you get the tourist view.....a wopping 10,000' vertical. You have probably seen this road view in one of my other photos. Have a good holiday, Joel | | Posted Dec 24, 2006 2:36 pm |
