After descending down from Summit Lake, we entered the north Yosemite wilderness. The terrain was gentle, and it was only a matter of some good navigation. Some ski backpacker had been killed somewhere here by an avalanche, and his family lawyer won a suit claiming the Park Service failed to inform him of the hazard. So now, when you see a sign informing you of some danger, that was an attorney's efforts to protect other people from similar fates. Slide paths are visible in this photo, to the right. April 8, 1979
