Southwest Ridge Route [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Southwest Ridge Route
This is the approximate route I climbed on December 24th, 2006. It's seriously steep, with 1,925 ft of gain in only about 1.2 miles. There's moderate bushwacking here and there, just do your best to avoid it. No established trail that I could find, just stay on the ridgetop and make use of existing game trails whenever you can. The last few hundred feet I made a direct frontal assault on the class 3 sandstone cliffs. However, they are very loose and crumbly, so you may want to go around to the left side of them. Total time from parking area to summit register was 1 hr 50 min.

"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."   --Ernest Hemingway
