| Wooden Hexentric | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Those were the days we did not have any big piece of pro. So I made my own wood hexentric and it took me to most of the rad pitches of some first ascents. That piece is clearly visible in the photo and I still sometimes use it just to keep fresh that sprit.

Voted 10/10 | Doesn't wood break? Even if you are using oak or something hard, I would imagine a good fall could just crack the piece in half. It is extreme and badass nevertheless, but I was curious as to how effective it actual is.

Hasn't voted | I used it in our basalt crack area and I made it specifically for the route Takozlarin Efendisi, 5.11-. There is nothing on basalt surfaces to chip it off or brake and it jams perfectly just before the crux.
It worked perfectly in some short falls (one is 2 m and other is around 1 m) but of course I can never say it is bomber.
On that route you put this hex in place then must pass a nice stem roof without handholds. And you are so close to fall before reaching knee size offwidth. | | Posted Jan 4, 2007 9:06 am |

Voted 10/10 | We have a few routes out here that will need slung 2x4's to protect as we do not have real big gear like the BigBros and such. Hey its Oldschool I know. They used to do that in Vedawoo,Wyoming. | | Posted Jan 12, 2007 5:23 pm |
