Rafting the Ocoee [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Rafting the Ocoee

It's hard to believe that they literally "turn off" this Class III/IV river at night! But that is true about this river, which was the site of the 1996 Centennial Olympic whitewater events. At night the river is diverted to provide electricity and water to the surrounding communities. There is a fee charged to boaters to pay the TVA for the loss of the water during the daylight hours. Imaged along the Ocoee River, TN in June 2004.
