The Bottleneck [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The Bottleneck

This 10-foot / 3m step looks easy, but it almost stopped us cold. Above it we turned left and climbed steep snow 200 feet or so to the crest of Davis Peak's S ridge. Just beyond this wall (and on our right as we climbed above it) is the mile-high, heavily corniced NE Face.

"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."   --M. Cartmill
