Descending the South Ridge [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Descending the South Ridge

Descending the S Ridge of Davis Peak. The ridge ends in a fairly abrupt 200-foot / 60m drop to a saddle and our camp. The view of the ridge end from our camp had scared us into detouring around the E side of the ridge, but that had turned out to be more difficult and exposed than we'd expected. We decided on a direct return, and were rewarded a much easier descent than we'd anticipated.

Far below us a little strip of the North Cascades Highway is visible. We have just over a vertical mile to descend to reach our car. The steep descent was made more difficult when a minor slip below camp injured one of our party.
