Velika planina is a broad plateau-like mountain in the southern part of Kamnik/Steiner Alps. Once it was the biggest pasture in Kamnik Alps, with a long shepherds tradition, but today almost all huts are converted into weekend huts. As it is also a ski resort, it can be easilly reached by a cable-car, going up from the valley of Kamniska Bistrica. Even if it is densely populated the plateau is worth of a visit. In summer there are also great biking opportunities.
