That is a weird looking pinnacle. Is the terrain very sandy?

The whole area is full of them. Hundreds and hundreds.
It looks like it's sandy, but it's not at all. It's rock. Porous and with very good friction.

It was a bit flatter on the other side of the ridge, so I could ride almost all the way up to that little pass. Great riding and climbing in that area.
