Here is where it's all happening on the Big Island. This vent, Pu'u O'o on Kilauea, has been in continuous eruption for 24 years and show no signs of stopping. Pictured here from a mile away, its densely laden clouds of gasses make it extremely dangerous to approach. (Not to mention the danger of of falling through the thin crust and into red hot lava!) Red hot lava flows almost continuously from the base and occasionally from the summit or the sides and travels 7 miles to the sea.
