| Damselflies | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Spotted in Henderson Bird Preserve, Nevada 2006.
There are three stages in the life cycle of a damselfly:
egg, naiad (the nymph of a damselfly) and adult.
Males of most damselfly species are brighter-colored than females. During mating you will often see them fly in tandem.

Hasn't voted | Actually, believe it or not, it is easier to take a picture of mating damselflies ( and other mating insects) than of a single one. They are not as skittish and very 'busy".
Thanks for checking out my gallery and your votes. I look forward to visiting yours soon. I haven't seen all of your pictures yet. Cheers. | | Posted Jun 21, 2007 7:30 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you Sam. I actually went there to photograph birds, but there were so many damselflies and dragonflies around water that I couldn't resist. | | Posted Jan 22, 2008 10:25 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Arthur. The composition was just pure luck. They happened to land on a nice green plant while I was looking around for birds and that's the pond in the background. Cheers. | | Posted Nov 8, 2008 6:48 pm |
