Amazing NE faces of Cima Tosa (3173m) and Crozzon di Brenta (3135m) rise like a huge, curtain like walls above Val Brenta Alta valley. In the dark between them is famous Canalone Nero couloir.

Voted 10/10 | Great picture of one of my very favorite views. A small detail: The name of the couloir is Canalone Neri (or Canalone della Tosa). Virgilio Neri first climbed it (solo) in 1929. Ironically, "nero" (which means "black" in Italian) has become a rather apt name since the snowfield in the couloir has considerably shrunk in recent years. | | Posted Feb 9, 2007 4:29 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Brenta! For the explanation too! I thought it is Nero because most of time it is in the shadow. So, should I leave it like it is or change it to 'Neri'? | | Posted Feb 9, 2007 5:46 pm |
