Looking back down on the...
Looking back down on the Sahale Glacier with Johannesburg in the background. The route was very straight forward but had to cross half-a-dozen tiny crevasses, end run 2 and cross 1 on a solid snow bridge. Not bad for a "nearly inactive" glacier. There were at least 3 crevasses big enough to swallow a person, but the grade is quite flat and chances of falling and sliding into one are slim. -Photo taken September 1, 2003
