Wetterhorn Dawn [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Wetterhorn Dawn
Dawn light and the north face of Wetterhorn Peak, 14,015 ft; Uncompahgre Wilderness, after heavy first snows of September. Photo ©2006 by Jack Brauer.

This is the view from the pass between the Middle Fork and East Fork valleys. I camped up here on the pass, which wasn't the brightest idea since the wind was HOWLING all night long. My tent was getting slammed and I didn't get hardly any sleep all night, not only because of the noise, but because whenever an extra strong gust blasted the tent my instinct was to grab hold of it in case it flew away. But my tent (Mtn Hardware Kiva) was a champ - aerodynamic and securely anchored into the tundra.
