Thats pretty heavy discharge for Palouse Falls. The only time I have seen it bigger was in Feb. 1996 when the Palouse River was having a 250 year flood event.

That is a great insight as to the volume. I have seen it before but it was in February during a cold spell. Thanks for your input.

I visited the falls about 20 years ago with my friend, who was living in Walla Walla at the time. I've always remembered the falls, but not their name. An amazing place.

Thanks Lisae....yeah, to "find" that in the middle of nowhere is great stuff. I was amazed by this waterfall the first time I saw it last year. I had to go back again and will again next year....

You are not the lone ranger. It took me almost 30 years to get out to see the falls last year.
I didn't realize what I had been missing.

It does doesn't it. The river makes a 90 bend before it goes over the falls. Thanks !!!

The river takes a 90 degree turn and drops over, creating that effect. There was a young Montana kid who went over in a kayak. See here for LINK that has pics.

A very good spot you chose to photograph this waterfall - puts the Iffigen Falls into a rather "miniscule" position...:-)

Thank you Eric, I appreciate your nice comments. Palouse Falls is an unexpected sight in the middle of the eastern Washington desert country.
