Climbing to the notch between the two Thunderbolt summits [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Climbing to the notch between the two Thunderbolt summits
After gaining the top of the North Couloir, you drop down ~50 feet on the West side of Thunderbolt. From there climb this prominent chute to notch between the Lightning Rod and the true summit. From here traverse over and ascent the obvious class 4 chimney to the summit block. Picture was taken in March so normally in summer/fall there is no snow cover making the route much more straightforward. Also note that this section is also the top of the SW Chute No. 1 and West Face routes.
