Two descent options discussed...
Two descent options discussed in the Redcloud-Sunshine Route Emporium are illustrated here. The first option is illustrated in red, the second in blue. The blue route has also been ascended, likely at great physical toil. Both would serve as bail routes. The blue route joins with a trail crossing a rock glacier (lower left hand corner), but a more direct route down the basin appears feasible. Loose San Juan scree and talus is the price for these thrifty descents. I have personally descended the red route twice and it works well. These routes are not recommended for ascents, and inexperienced folks should he accompanied by someone who has been on the route previously. Summer, 2003.
