diplochistes ocellatus [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
diplochistes ocellatus
I've spotted this lichen in Piana di Oridda, on the way to Piscina Irgas, a nice pink granite canyon in SW Sardinia.
I searched google to find out the name of this little pioneer, and i think it's DIPLOCHISTES OCELLATUS.

did you mean that it reminds you of something from the sea? really?
To me it seems more a desert with water puddles, seen from above. just fantasizing, though. pretty cool texture anyway, uh. that's why i sot the picture.
thanks for comment.

I've always enjoyed looking at fungi for photographic subjects. The gray and blue hues of your specimen are unusual. Might crop off a wee bit of the oof left edge.

yep, I think you're right :)
I had already cropped the picture because I wanted to focus the eye on the pattern, then I feared that cropping it further off would have caused a loss of resolution.

Please have mercy ;-)
I all my pics were taken with a sony cybershot DSCN1 ~ always set in manual mode, tough ~ whose cheap sensor is already overstressed with me pushing it at hard conditions (read: caving + canyoneering = dust, mud, moisture, blahblahblah...). Although I'm working on getting myself a good DLSR camera /equipment I'm surprised that my little point and shoot camera didn't "quit" me yet.

I truly appreciate comment like yours, they help me grow and I think I have a lot to learn. Know that any other tips and hints on my pics ~feel free from the "rating" duty of course, LoL :) ~ will be welcome.

last but not least: I love your photography and technique !! Colours are so natural and still so vibrant. I saved your website on my favorites to check it out from time to time. I agree with many of your ideas of a "natural" photography.
cheers.
b.
