Another question. What kind of a forest are we looking at from the summit of this mountain? Or ...
is it EVEN called a FOREST? How about those rocks -what's their composition? Are there any RIVERS in this area? In northern Canada & Labrador, they have something called TUNDRA - it's where the Polar bears live. Lolli, do you ever encounter bears, or have they been eliminated (completely) from the mainland? Thank you !!!

What kind of fish species do you have? I miss the ocean - my own fault.

"The national park is dominated by deciduous forest of an exotic nature. The forest mainly consists of hornbeam and beech." Also some birch, elm, ash and pine. It's a small wood. The Gulf stream makes the climate more temperate than for example in Alaska or Canada, but the taiga, the large forestarea which goes all the way to Siberia, starts in the middle of the country. The tundra is up very much north.

We do not have polarbeers in Sweden, but there are large wilderness areas in which bear lives. Not where I live, and not as common as in the western USA. We've got wolves not so far up, though.

No large rivers in this corner of the country, only creeks. Behind me, it's steep, a small wall straight down, but hard to take pictures of, since there's no free view of it. The stone is vulkanit, a porphyric... volcano-stone? I don't know it in English.

Fish? eh, I don't really know. Most common is cod, salmon, eel, that's what they fish locally.

Aaaah! I'm putting Sweden on TOP of my wish list! I've had a geology background ... WONDERING if the rock is granite or quartz monsonite ??? GUESS I must COME to Sweden to find out. Thank you for this valuable information. ... Seems like you know the AREA completely. Are the small woods & forest-areas being PROTECTED? Do you have any
logging or removal of trees for ECONOMIC gain? How do you HEAT your HOME? Just curious. I love the smell of wood. THANKS !!!

Granite is the most common kind of rock here, together with gneiss.
No, the woods outside the National Park, are not protected.
The forest industry is a major Swedish export industry, but as it's mostly small deciduos woods in this area, it's not much foresting. Mainly used for high-end wood, as furniture making and similar.

This is country-side, so we heat our home with thermal heating systems, energy taken from the ground. In towns and cities it's very common with long-distance heating from a plant. Use of oil is waning rapidly, as it is more cost effective to use other sources. There's also a ban on using electricity straight for heating when building new houses, and there's a tax deduction when converting older systems to a more energy-efficient system. I like the smell of wood too, it's lovely, but wood is mainly for cosy fires in the fireplace. Too much work, and not very efficient heating either.
I think one could describe Sweden as an environmental-minded high-tech country.

May I please comment - your grasp of the English language is GREAT. And, I really think America could learn something from Sweden, as far as energy goes. Thanks for the information!
