You are right. Globeflower was wrong. It is a Primrose.

You are correct it is a Primrose. It's leaves are kind of distinctive. I was wrong with the Globeflower identification. Thanks.

Thanks, Jon. I'm always amazed at alpine wild flowers growing where, at first glance, there seems to be no water or nutrients. My husband and I own a cabin on 2 acres not far from the Tarryall Reservoir, so these are our weekend stomping grounds. We find great peace in this area.
