and yet only two people voted on this one? Amazing. I was the 2nd one to vote. I'm planning to do this on about April 7th and wondered if an ice axe would be needed. Did you need snowshoes for your March effort?

Yes, I did. There was a good deal of fresh snow at the time and it would have been impossible without snowshoes or crampons. It may be quite different for you April 7. Until last week I would have said you could probably just walk to the top with your boots, but I don't have a good idea how much snow came down up there in that last storm. No need for an axe though - it's a fairly gentle slope from the southwest.
