thanks...the ray of light penetrating the cave like a blade is even better if you see it with your eyes. unfortunately the pic doesen't give the real proportions of it. I should have used a "fish-eye" to show the whole pit.
Actually the caver stands on a little ledge.
Cave's bottom is some feet below.

grazie a te...ho abitato tra val di susa e ivrea per moltissimo tempo, le "mie" montagne attraverso le tue foto sono belle come me le ricordavo. (ormai sono 5 anni che non torno sù...devo rimediare!)
ciao a te.

thank you miguel, what a nice thing to say :)!
looking at yor pics - nice gallery, by the way- and the climbers logs you've signed you definitely need no additive sport, but I think it's fun to try...maybe you'd like it.
cheers and thanks for the vote :)

Well, actually, I did a bit of caving last month (but very beginner....no expert like you) at Lava Beds National Park in Northern California ( http://www.nps.gov/archive/labe/content/CAVE_Main.htm )

thank you for showing me...it looks interesting. Never had the chance to visit a lava cave but I will. Here is karst cave (limestone/dolomite) mostly, quite different from lava tubes.
cheers.
