Most predominant tree on Velebit is beech. It makes around 70% of the forests and in autumn is painted in amazing tones, from yellow to red. You can find such colors from last third of September (above 1200m) till mid October (around 700-800m). Photo: Aleksandar Gospic

Thanks for that link desainme. It looks the same on both sides of the big pond called Atlantic :-) Beech is such a wonderful tree, so pure, with smooth bark. Crown is usually high up and trunk is clear of branches so it is easy to go through the forest, which is important to me as I love to explore terrain away from marked paths.
