Goloritzè aguglia [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Goloritzè aguglia
the massive Aguglia of Goloritzè bay, Baunei, S-E Sardinia. (photo taken from the summit of Punta Salinas).

note: I'm not sure anymore if climbing is still allowed, now that the Aguglia has become "Natural Monument" of Sardinia, but it's definitely worth hiking and see with your own eyes and have a swim on that beautiful sea :-)

supermarmotinteresting perspective,

if you cropped this image just to the left of the tower, it would be hard to tell whether you're looking up or down at it: the sea would look like the sky.

:-)thanks a lot for your comment. I shot the photo zooming in the tower because I wanted to keep the attention focused on the aguglia, but you're right: It's hard to tell the sea from the sky, even when you're walking and look through the trees you get confused by these terrific colors and have to look twice to tell exactly the sky from the sea!
In my opinion orosei's gulf area has the finest coastline in Sardinia. I'm glad you liked it because i like this place also...
ciao!

that spire sure looks like fun, sport climbers tend to ruin it for us trad guys alot but your photo gives quite the feel and exposure of the place- thanks for this

ultimate version is: climbing a natural monument is forbidden but no one cares and still everybody enjoy climbing the aguglia.
i assume the restriction is for anchoring new routes, so.

yes, the view of the sea from the top of the spire it's even better. I checked if climbing is still allowed and there are no restrictions anymore, except for opening-bolting new routes.
thanks for comment :-9

oops, I've been stuck in bed because of a bad cold and didn't notice your post before.
thank you very much for your comment.
Yup, it is really a breath taking place. considering your passion for climbing I think you would enjoy sardinia pretty much. There are thousands routes you can choose, mostly between 6b to 8c...Yeah, I bet you'd have fun

cheers cough-cough. :-)

thanks man :) I feel much better already.

Sorry Radek, I'm not familiar with the US system -we use the french scale-
please, take a peek to to this table I've found on the web
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grade_(climbing)
I guess I was meaning that The majority of the the sport climbing routes here are listed somewhere between your 5.11a and your 5.14b
:-)
I'm such a bad climber - hopefully a better caver though :):) -that I guess I'm cut off from the most beautiful and famous crags here but you're welcome anytime
ciao
