Underneath the Arch [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Underneath the Arch
This view of the underside of the Hammerhead arch requires a bit of bushwhacking. From the base of the rock, contour the south side and climb into the gully below the corner formed by the east ridge and the tower supporting the summit block. It is possible from this point to join the east ridge by squeezing through the arch and mounting on it from the north side. Because of the back light, this is far from being a great picture, but it gives an idea of what the route is like that is difficult to convey otherwise: climbing is along the skyline. Boulder, Colorado, May 2007.
