Solitude, 5.10a [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Solitude, 5.10a
  • Solitude - 55’- 5.10a/
  • Starts in the last alcove to the right. This can be a bastard of a start on lead until you know which pinches work. Pocketed face past five bolts to merge into Pink Coral for its final two bolts. Start your left traverse right after the 5th bolt, try not to go any higher as the wall gets loose and dirty at that point.

I wish sandstone was this hard, no it is textured limestone...the higher elevations in southern Utah yield bomber exposed limestone here and there....this stuff is actually quite sharp, a leader fall on it would hurt a little...

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
