Toothpaste Rock [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Toothpaste Rock
This folded gneiss always reminds me of sqeezing toothpaste out of a tube. Great banding of light color (felsic minerals such as quartz and K-feldspar) and dark color (mafic minerals such as plagioclase, amphibole, and biotite.) This rock is from the High-wire Crag above tunnel two in Clear Creek Canyon. June 8th, 2007.
