Thank you for you kind comment. Yes Pelmo has always seemed to me to be one of the most majestic mountains of the dolomites.

proposed this as among the most aesthetic mountains in Europe. I suggested La Grivola but others might differ.

Thanks for the comment. Pelmo would certainly make a very serious candidate, it is among the mountains I have always loved since I first saw it in my father's mountains books more than 60 years ago.

lcarreauVery beautiful peak!

Voted 10/10

It resembles something you would see
in the northern Rockies of BC in Canada!
I suppose an Englishman was the first one
to climb it?

Thank you! Yes, it was first climbed in 1857 by the Irishman John Ball, the first president of the British Alpine Club! (Many of the other high Dolomite peaks, such as e.g. the Marmolada, the Langkofel, the three Tofanas, Monte Cristallo, and the Sorapis were climbed a little later by the Viennese Paul Grohmann, after whom one of the most impressive and difficult peaks was named!)

Thank you. I quite envy you, we never were on Pelmo ourselves, and now I think the climb is too long.

Many thanks for your kind comment. I hope you will get to stand on the summit of Pelmo soon - it is one of the most prominent and beautiful mountains of the Dolomites.

Thank you for sharing it. It is more than 21 years ago when I summited Pelmo in late october 1987. It was only one day with good weather in this week and that was the summit day. I will not forget all the fresh snow and ice and the hard struggle until we arrived at the summit.

Glad to hear that, I can imagine how it must be to be on the top of Pelmo in clear weather. Unfortunately I never climbed it myself, and now we are getting too old for a climb that long, I think.
