Climbing up the final upper...

Climbing up the final upper heather and rock of the Northeast Ridge of Triumph. This section is sort of a gully between the Northeast Ridge and the apex of the East Face. It's sort of a transition zone. This wasn't that hard to climb up. Climbing down it--especially in rock shoes--we did not look forward to, so we decided to rappel down the Northeast Ridge's upper buttress instead. The eastside glacier is visible about 1,000 ft below. Photo taken Sept. 27, 2003.
