| Sergio Verdina rappels (... | [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ] |
Sergio Verdina rappels ( Rap#4) one rappel below the crux pitches of the Northeast Ridge. The 5.7 off-width is the crack tilted slightly to the right above Sergio. It doesn't look very wide from where the photo was taken. It's actually farther away than it looks. Sept. 27, 2003.

Hasn't voted | Emendation to the caption:
What may not be apparent on this photo is that there is a platform (top of a pillar) about 10 feet above Sergio's head. That is where he is rapping from. As such, that 5.7 off-width is farther away than it may appear.
Rap#2 descends from the rock at the very top of the picture. This rap goes into the Great Notch.
Rap#3 descends from the Great Notch (actually a platform next to it) to just above the off-width. The off-width ends at the rappel station (mantle move to mount?).
Rap#4 descends to the uphill side of the knife-edge section. From where I took the photo I am not yet on the most exposed part. | | Posted Oct 10, 2003 5:56 pm |
