| The Pic du Midi d'Ossau over... | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The Pic du Midi d'Ossau over the valley (Gave de Bious) from the Peak of Astún.
I think occasionally is like the Tolkien's Orodruim (Mount Doom) in the Plateau of Gorgoroth in the land of Mordor (Frodo and Sam take a rope?). 11 october 2003.

Hasn't voted | Not exactly, the Peak of Astún and the Col of Astún are over the ski station of Astún in the spanish side of Pyrennes and are the best observatory for the west face of Midi d'Ossau. To recognize the faces:
-south: petic pic (secondary summit) in left.
-north: the petic pic in right.
-west: petit pic before (difficult to see in this picture for the distance).
-east: no petit pic (back).
You can see other pictures in this page for know it.
