Hasn't voted | Thanks Josh! The photo was taken in 2000, so there's only been seven years of glacial retreat since then. I'm not aware of any forest fires in that portion of the Glacier Peak Wilderness, but if there were any I guess they could well have ruined some of the scenery. I need to rescan the whole series of slides I took of Glacier Peak that day, and they would all look much better if I did so. Hasn't voted | Well, I saw only one sunrise on Glacier Peak that trip, but unfortunately I couldn't get to a place with no trees in the way. This photo shows what I could see.

Hasn't voted | Thank you Josh. This alpenglo photo has a special significance to me. I had met a guy named Glenn Williams earlier that summer, and he had told me about his plan to spend a month on top of Glacier Peak that summer. He was up there during my trip, and every time I looked at the mountain I thought of him. The date of the alpenglo photo was August 16, 2000. Glenn wrote a blog of sorts about his stay on the summit, and rather poetically mentioned that moon in his August 16 entry. You might enjoy reading his account of the adventure, which starts here.
