Being hauled off by heli after breaking an ankle on the trail down from Gran Paradiso...did I mention it was on the trail!! Oh, and never did make the summit due to the onset of a storm...now there's a day I should have never bothered getting out of bed..

Hasn't voted | I was with a guide who had GPS. He called for rescue, told them our co-ordinates and they came to the exact spot in less than 20 minutes. Pretty amazing really. The medics were so nice to me and, in Italy, the rescue was free. I was very grateful!
