Avalanche Peak from Hoyt Peak [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Avalanche Peak from Hoyt Peak
This view of Avalanche Peak, taken from the summit of Hoyt Peak, clearly shows the ridge which connects them. From Hoyt Peak one simply walks along the ridge-crest until reaching the obvious "bump" on the shoulder of Avalanche (upper right in this picture). The best track from there to the summit goes around the right side of the bump (backside in this picture).

There is a trail most of the way. It is especially clear once you near Avalanche Peak, a summit climbed far more often than Hoyt Peak. © Mike Hoyt, 9jul07.
