Potosi Descent Route [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Potosi Descent Route
Aaron Johnson marvels in the wildflower splendor of the tundra on Potosi Peak's complex western slopes. Such views are commonplace during the execution of the descent route from the mountain, starting at the saddle betwen Potosi and Coffee Pot. Guard against the temptation though to remove your helmet, for potentially hazardous terrain waits below during the final stages of the descent. At the top of the picture is Potosi's well guarded summit tower, which aptly illustrates the severe steepness of the mountain. Rock fall on such a pitch is a serious matter, so keep your bucket on until you are off the mountain! Summer, 2007. San Juan Mountains.
