INITIAL DINNER MEETING FOR THE 2007 SP SUMMER GATHERING EVENT

SP members vanny37 (back to camera), jeffrawn (barely out of photo), Aaron Johnson, kilimanjaro1 and Kane discuss options at Romero's Mexican Restaurant in Silverton, Colorado. The weather was looking bad and we thought we might have to do another more weather-friendly hike or skip it altogether. After much deliberation, it was decided to stick with the plan. At the very least, the group could enjoy the splendor of Lower Ice Lake Basin. Everyone was just happy to be there! Great folks, awesome moutains and good times!

As fate would have it, the weather cooperated and our climb of Golden Horn was successful. We had a beautifully cool day, calm weather, cloud cover (excellent lighting for pictures), and a grand time on the mountain.

HOWEVER-most of us had to (in vanny37's words) endure "Romero's Revenge," an intestinal affliction which plagued us throughout the climbing day. This inconvenient malady was contracted unsuspectingly at the establishment we see here in this photo, where our first dinner meeting took place. I've never had trouble from eating in this restaurant before, but there's a first time for eveything! Sorry guys and gals!

Our next dinner after the climb was enjoyed at the Handlebars Saloon in Silverton. We had a great time there as well, and to my knowledge, everyone was recovered by then from Romero's Revenge and no further problems were noted.
