This photo looks across the steep east face of Engineer Mountain, due south toward the Durango area. It is amazing that a pile of loose rock can hold together like this. Do not leave the comfort of the well trodden route up this mountain, for the untrod areas are bound to be treacherously loose. Summer, 2007, San Juan Mountains.
