Island Couloir-- Lower Section [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Island Couloir-- Lower Section
The easy lower section of the climb. For much of this part, you don't really need your ice axe, though using it is still a good idea. The route steepens as you near the "island," the rock outcrop in the center. It is better to go left of the island than right because that way is both more direct and close to an easy escape option.
